KUKIO
BACKGROUND: Kuki'o is the first and only private oceanfront golf and beach club on Hawaii's Big Island. Highlighted by a full-service member's clubhouse, luxurious spa and fitness facilities, a ten-hole Tom Fazio-designed short course and an eighteen-hole Tom Fazio-designed championship golf course, the club was conceived provide the utmost in luxury, elegance and relaxation in one of the world's most beautiful locations.
CHALLENGE: As an entirely new entity to be situated on the Big Island's virtually unspoiled coastline, Kuki'o was envisioned to enhance its stunning naturally surroundings and hearken back to a Hawaii of days gone by. The problem was finding someone who could translate this vision and make it a reality.
SOLUTION: Safari Construction was called in approximately 18 months before construction began to provide their input and expertise in designing the most economical and durable structures. Safari recommended using natural thatch reed and eucalyptus imported from South Africa and African thatching techniques to create structures with long-lasting roofs and a hunting lodge atmosphere.
RESULT: Over the course of a year, Safari built over 39,000 square feet ranging from a welcoming center to small gazebos on Lava outcrops at the ocean's edge. These rustic-looking structures provide the perfect look and feel to complement Kuki'o's magnificent and unique natural setting. Safari's projects around the world stand proud testament to this level of craftsmanship and quality. Our paramount purpose is to leave you with a product that exceeds your expectations.
